Take the Ethical Paper pledge!
How Eco is GreenUrLife? Print E-mail

greenleavesHere at GreenUrLife, we employ many eco practices and policies to ensure our impact on the environment is minimal.  Here are some of the things we do in order to achieve this:

  1. Packaging - when you receive your order you'll notice that we use 100% recycled packaging.  We obtain used boxes and other packaging materials either from stock we have brought into the store or that we have obtained from businesses we have an arrangement with.  You'll notice we do not send our products in plastic postage satchels - even though in some cases it might be cheaper to do so - this is how strongly we feel about using the available eco friendly alternatives to plastic.
  2. Printing - our professional printing is done using PrintTogether, Australia's first and only printing business to offer collective green printing using 100% recycled paper and soy based inks (www.printtogether.com.au).  Our office printing is done using 100% recycled paper and where the document is for filing, it is printed using the second side of waste paper.  We also only use recycled printer cartridges in our office printers.
  3. Ethical Paper Pledge - GreenUrLife has taken the Ethical Paper Pledge to show its commitment not to purchase Reflex Paper until Australian Paper stops sourcing from our native forests as GreenUrLife is committed to a sustainable future for Australia. (www.ethicalpaper.com.au)
  4. Office Supplies - our commitment to the environment extends to our office supplies as well.  We use archive boxes, in trays and document organisers made from recycled cardboard; recycled pens; solar powered calculators; recycled paper and recycled notepad paper.
  5. Gift Wrapping - should you wish your order to be gift wrapped, you'll find we use recycled brown (kraft) paper tied up with eco friendly twine.
  6. Freight - we use Australia Post who are committed to reducing the environmental impacts of their transport through their participation in the Energy Efficiency Opportunities program.  We also use Australian Air Express who are committed to conserving resources, reducing waste and eliminating or minimising their environmental impacts through initiatives such as a Carbon Emissions program, a Static energy project with Energetics, and a Collaborative Waste project.
  7. Products - the companies we deal with have a strong green focus having environmental, ethical and social responsibility policies in place.
  8. Paperwork - we choose to access paperwork and invoices electronically where the option is provided to limit the amount of paperwork printed and sent through the postal system.
  9. Consumables - we enjoy fair trade organic coffee, organic tea, organic sugar and organic milk; filtered water and sometimes there's even homemade organic slice to go with it!

Charities We Support Print E-mail

Since our inception in 2008, we have come across these fantastic charities and not for profit organisations who align with our ethics and who we therefore choose to support either by donating our time, money or products to help support their cause:

  • The Umbrella Network - a Townsville Disability Family Support Service that gathers information regarding therapy services, visiting workshops, support groups and playgroups, in order to educate famlies with disabled members.  They are a registered charity that is run by Volunteers who themselves have family members with a disability.  www.theumbrellanetwork.org
  • Mindd Foundation -helps practitioners and patients discover and implement effective treatments for Metabolic, Immunologic, Neurologic, Digestive, Developmental conditions that often affect the mind. Their focus is on paediatric disorders such as ADHD, Asthma, allergies, autism, chronic illness, depression, learning and language delay, and digestive and behavioural disorders. Research is showing that these children are coming from families with a history of "brain-immuno-gut disorders" triggered by toxins, malnutrition and infections.  The rise in childhood disease signals a need for preventative healthcare that focuses on cellular health by optimising nutrient intake while minimising toxins. www.mindd.org
  • Prevention is the Cure - aims to inform and educate the Far North Queensland community to make informed choices with regards to food, skincare, household products and healthy living, which will help to prevent cancer and many other major illnesses.  Prevention is the Cure ~ Education is the Key.
  • Green Renters - a not-for-profit providing sustainable living advice specifically for those living in rental property. Renters are a growing part of the community and involvement is vital and possible.  www.greenrenters.org

Please take the time to have a look at and support these organisations intheir quest to make the world a greener, more sustainable and less toxic place for our future generations to come.
